Meeting our H.O.D

The meeting of the executives with the H.O.D was held today Monday 16th April,
 2018. It started 2:30pm at the H.O.D office. He started by recognising all the executives present and he congratulated them. He then gave a list of the agenda which are; duties of the executives, dues to be paid and welcome party/orientation/career talk. He asked if each executives knows their duties and we all responded affirmative.
      The amount to be paid as dues was deliberated on, the president gave a break down of it (fresher's #3000 and stalites #2000) and the executives all agreed that the dues should remain fixed at that amount. The H.O.D stated that it will be confirmed.
      The H.O.D stated that the whole staff of the department have agreed to hold the fresher's orientation programme along with the geology week which is stipulate for 16th and 17th of May 2018. He said that professionals and alumni's  of this great department have been invited to present career talk at the occasion.
He urged the executives and the students to prepare well towards it. He went further by saying that steps have been taken to make sure that the V.C  and the Dean of the faculty of science is well informed and the H.OD of other departments so as to make the stipulated date lecture free for geoscientists.
      According to the H.O.D, the is going to be accreditation from the N.UC this year and all requirements to me met are being worked towards. E.g getting geology field trip bus, upgrading the laboratory, and handbook e.t.c.
      The president informed the H.O.D of his plans to invite the  alumni's to have them lecture the students about being a young professionals and having them sponsoring the students for some of the conferences organised by Geoscience bodies.
      Moreover on the dues, the H.O.D asked about the way it can be made compulsory for every geoscientists to pay. The way out was suggested by the social director. Furthermore, the president pleaded with the H.OD to call
the ex-president over for the handing over, he also informed the H.O.D  about the technical team and the availability of library for the students use. The H.O.D said he is already making plans for the departmental secretariat.
      In addition, the president informed the H.O.D about creating a whatsapp platform whereby the lecturers, executives and the class governors will be added to it, he also talked about getting lecture notes from lecturers to preparing it in P.D.F format for the students use. The H.O.D promised to engage the lectures on that and he urged the executives to hold a meeting to map out the agenda for the tenure.
      The A.G.S, sport director and P.R.O complained about their level results, giving H.O.D the list of the results and he promised to work on it.

      In conclusion, he urged the executives to work hard and prepare well for their exams. He also wished them a successful administration telling them to feel free to meet him at anytime and discuss any issues.
